Ready for a nap? We can’t wait to unwind with a series of live-streamed performances of Lullaby: Sonic Cradle, a soothing contemporary soundscape which explores night-time noises and lullabies from all around the world. The first three dates are aimed at relaxing the under-fives, whilst the final performance is intended for adults who want to unwind. Count us in!

Together the Indian vocals of Supriya Nagarajan and world sounds of Duncan Chapman will create a tranquil space for an hour. Inspired by the songs Indian women sing to their babies whilst working in the fields and interwoven with audio-recordings gathered from the musicians’ travels to local communities around the globe, Lullaby: Sonic Cradle is an immersive, calming musical experience accompanied by interactive visuals.

Sarah McWatt, Director, NYMAZ comments, “We’re hugely excited that our programme of live-streams will be bringing the music of Manasamitra to the homes of families across the UK. Grab your cushions, get cosy and chill out as you are transported by their hypnotic sounds. We’re especially keen for families with young children to tune in via our Facebook page (facebook.com/nymaz), however everyone is very welcome to chill out with us!”

Supriya Nagarajan, founder and CEO, Manasamitra, explains, “ Each performance of Lullaby: Sonic Cradle is semi-improvised, making them unique and individual. We have performed all over the world and taken inspiration along the way – perhaps you’ll hear trams from Oslo, the kookaburra bird from Sydney or even the sea off the Wirral…Snoring is a must!”

These live-streamed performances have been made possible thanks to funding support from Youth Music, North Yorkshire Music Hub, Arts Council England and PRS Foundation.

All of these performances will be live-streamed via NYMAZ’s Facebook page: facebook.com/NYMAZ
