Free online performance by Graffiti Classics – join us for an afternoon of musical comedy cabaret: Wednesday 8 July, 2pm at www.connectresound.live/watch
16 strings, 8 dancing feet and four voices will be setting alight screens across Cumbria and beyond on 8 July from 2pm as Graffiti Classics presents a musical comedy cabaret show for families and young people – available to watch for free at www.connectresound.live/watch
Organised by the Cumbria Music Hub and youth music charity NYMAZ, the online performance from Graffiti Classics promises to make classical music fun with its scintillating slap-stick, brilliant arrangements and mischievous humour. In addition to the performance, there will be a Q&A session, schools and families are encouraged to put their questions to the musicians in advance by emailing info@nymaz.org.uk.
Yvonne Hulme from Cumbria Music Hub explains what to expect, “ Graffiti Classics is not your ordinary string quartet – they inject their unique brand of fun into classical music. The performance will enable children to enjoy and develop their own musicality, whilst finding out more about the instruments along the way. The musicians have toured the world so we are extremely excited to be able to bring them to the schools, families and young people of Cumbria via this live music broadcast.”
Sarah McWatt, Director, NYMAZ continues, “ During lockdown we have seen a huge uplift in families wanting to enjoy music online. We’ve responded by working with Music Education Hubs and music organisations to put together a calendar of live music broadcasts for the summer – we can’t wait to share all this fabulous free music with everyone, from chilled out soundscapes for the under-fives through to a lockdown performance from a youth orchestra. Our programme of live music broadcasts can be found at www.connectresound.live/whatson”
An accompanying Resource Pack with related musical activities will be available to download from www.connectresound.live/resources.
